It’s Fall, Ya’ll! Let’s Get Crafting

Autumn is all about pinecones, apples, cinnamon and – who could forget – Halloween.

It’s one of the most fun, festive times of the year andit has so much history.  One of our favorite fall stories is the one about Johnny Appleseed.  And what better way to kick off the onset of fall than with an apple craft?!

Take this opportunity to sit with your toddler, have a little fun and retell the story of Johnny Appleseed.  Need a little refreshing?  Click here.

Pinecone Apple Craft

Here’s What You’ll Need:

· Pinecones

· Sticks

· Red Paint

· Paintbrush

· Hot Glue Gun

· Green Paper or Felt

· Sticks

Steps:

  1. Obviously, you need some pinecones.  Depending on where you live, you might be able to find some just lying on the ground outside. Make sure you have one for each person participating…and maybe grab a few extras just in case.  You’ll also need to find a few sticks that we’ll use to form the stem of the apple.

  2. Go in and paint each pinecone red – since we are making apples remember, you can also use green or yellow if you don’t have red!

  3. Adults – here’s where you come in.  Go ahead and take your small sticks and hot glue them to the tippy top of the pine cone to form the stem of your apple.

  4. Finally, take your green paper and cut out some leaves and adhere them to your stick with a little more hot glue.

The best part about this craft is you can leave your apples out as décor and they’re TOTALLY in season.

Enjoy!
