Summer Boredom Buster

Summer camp is over and now all you're hearing is "I'm bored!" Well, we've got a great idea to help you get through the remainder of summer without hearing those dreaded words ever again. Enter the "Summer Boredom Buster Jar," an easy way to fill up your days with endless summer fun. Here's how to make a decorated jar filled with fun ideas your kids can write down using pretty scraps of their old art. It's a great way to recycle kids' art!

Materials:

  • Jar

  • Paint

  • Pieces of your kids' art (ones they don't mind cutting up)

  • Pen/marker and scissors

Instructions:

Step 1. Start by decorating your jar. An easy way to do this is by adding fingerprint dots in various colors around your jar. Feel free to get wild by gluing sequins, pom poms, or anything else onto the jar. Another kid-favorite is sparkle paint!

Step 2. You'll need some rectangular pieces of paper.  Since most parents have lots of old artwork laying around, we think this is a great way to recycle it!  Ask your child to write down activities they would like to do this summer. This is a great way to practice writing!

Step 3: Place your ideas in the jar and pull one out when you want to go on a mini adventure!

That's it! Easy peasy, right? Thank you to our friends at Hello, Wonderful for the great summer idea!
