Fun Valentine's Day Activities & Crafts for Preschoolers

Love is in the air! The preschoolers at Mary, Mother of the Light Academy in Tequesta are super excited about Valentine's Day. There are so many great crafts and activities to do that we didn't want to keep them all to ourselves!

Most of the projects we've shared below require only a few supplies that you most likely have lying around the house...so what are you waiting for?

Valentine Paper Roll Owls

You'll need:

  • Toilet paper cardboard roll
  • Mod podge or glue stick
  • Valentine's Day themed paper
  • Red/pink construction paper
  • Orange paper or felt (for the beak)
  • Ribbon
  • Googly eyes

Directions:

  1. Spread Mod Podge or glue stick all over paper roll.
  2. Wrap paper rolls in Valentine's Day themed paper. Let dry. Cut off excess paper.
  3. Fold paper roll so that it makes two peaks for the owls ears. Place ribbon between the folds. Glue in place.
  4. Use red or pink construction paper and cut out hearts for the wings. Cut out a small heart for the owl's heart and two circles to place behind the googly eyes.
  5. Glue the above items in place.
  6. Glue googly eyes and beak in place. Let dry.

Bee Mine Valentine Craft

You'll need:

  • Black, yellow, and either pink or red construction paper
  • A marker
  • Glue and tape
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes

Directions:

  1. Cut two large hearts from each color of construction paper (black, yellow, & red/pink).
  2. Cut two medium size hearts for the antennas from the pink/red paper, and 2 small hearts for the mouth.
  3. Start with one of the black hearts and begin to create a pattern (black, yellow, black, yellow) by laying each heart on top of the one before it.
  4. Glue them together.
  5. When the glue is dry, turn your hearts over and glue the red/pink hearts to the back so that they are sticking out the sides. These will be the wings.
  6. For the antennas, cut a pipe cleaner in half and tape each half to one of your medium sized red/pink hearts. Tape the other end of the pipe cleaners to the back of the bee.
  7. Now, it's time to make the face! Glue on some googly eyes, draw a mouth and stick your small red/pink hearts on each end of his smile.
  8. You can make it a Valentine by writing “Bee Mine, Valentine” or "Bee my Valentine" across the yellow portion of your bee or simply leave it as is and enjoy a super cute Valentine’s Day craft!

Milk Bottle Stained Glass Hearts

You'll need:

  • One large plastic milk bottle
  • Scissors
  • Hole Puncher
  • Glue Stick
  • Tissue Paper (pink, red and purple are best for Valentine's Day!)
  • Ribbon or thread for hanging

Directions:

  1. Cut out the large flat side of the milk bottle.
  2. Draw on your heart shape and cut it out.
  3. Use the hole punch to cut a hole for threading.
  4. Tear the tissue paper into little pieces.
  5. Cover one side of the heart thickly with glue.
  6. Stick on the tissue paper and set aside to dry.
  7. Once the glue is completely dry, trim around the edges.
  8. Thread with ribbon and hang in the window.

This idea can really be used for any holiday. For St. Patrick's day, cut out a shamrock and use green tissue paper. For Easter, cut out an easter egg and use pastel colors!
